My Husband Has Not Slept With Me For 9 Years—Woman Laments

Click for Full Image Size A 30-year-old woman who has been denied action on bed by her husband has begged the court to dissolve her marriage of 18 years to her husband. The woman, simply identified as Toyin, who works as a nurse at a traditional hospital, told an Ikorodu Customary Court to end her union with one Olive Omoletu.

She explained that the man has not performed his duty on bed for the past nine years. The woman said her husband had always complained of tiredness to escape her overtures.

“Since we had our last son, my husband has refused to perform his sexual duty. I would have left him since but he was always seeking my mother’s intervention. Not quite long, I discovered that someone placed a thunderbolt (in local parlance – magun) on me, but I was helped by a traditionalist.

“He also consumes too much of alcohol drinks and very hostile to me and my children. I beg this court for instant dissolution of this marriage to enable me to move on with my life”, Toyin, who resides at Hassan Street, Majidun area of Ikorodu, pleaded.

Meanwhile, the 46-year old husband, who is a welder, also begged for a possible reconciliation.

”Please help me beg my wife, I will make amends, I do not want her to leave me,” he pleaded.

After listening to both parties, the President of the court, Mr T.K. Dabor, ruled that the couple should go their separate ways as the marriage had broken down irretrievably.

He granted the custody of the children to Toyin pending the outcome of the family court’s ruling.

Dabor ordered the husband to pay a monthly upkeep allowance of N15, 000 for the three children of the marriage and that he should have free access to them.

Ebube Garricks(Winner Of The MTN Ultimate Wonder Promo), Speaks On How She Used Her N64Million Cash Prize.

image

Miss Ebube Essien-Garricks, winner of the MTN Ultimate Wonder promo (N64million) in 2012 has revealed how she spent the money in an exclusive chat with Ynaija!
Read excerpts from the conversation and see her new photos below:

How the ‘win’ was celebrated:
It was really an amazing thing that happened to me, I’m yet to get over the excitement.
Not any one can be lucky like I was and I am still very grateful to God. My family threw me a party to celebrate but it was an in-house thing, it wasn’t an elaborate one, just private family celebration. We didn’t invite outsiders to avoid being kidnapped, lol.

You have been off the radar, why is that?
Yes and that’s because I am presently studying business information system in Malaysia.
I left Nigeria in May, 2013.

Why Malaysia?
Actually I wanted to go to Georgia but my ticket wasn’t ready by then, so I settled for here and I really like it here anyway.

But you were already studying at the Rivers State College of Health Science and Technology
Yes but I had to quit, I couldn’t go back to complete my studies because the whole winning incident made me popular in school, everyone would point at me, try to be friends with me and all….. I was known all over which the school and I had to leave for security reasons, i didn’t feel safe.

image

After paying your tithe offering, what was the first thing you bought from the money ?
I let it breath fresh air in the bank, then I bought lots of land…I didn’t acquire houses or cars because that is not the main thing for now, moreover I’m not available to look over them so I settled for lands, it’s a safer investment. I would acquire the other properties with time.

And your parents?
I have settled my parents and I am taking good care of them but let me point out that we were doing okay even before I won the money; we had our own family house before then too.

You didn’t go shopping at all…get new stuffs, change your wardrobe?
Yes I did. I changed my wardrobe, bought new stuffs for me and my family but I’m not a shopping freak.

What has changed about you since the win?
Nothing much. I am still the humble me, the person I used to be. The money doesn’t make me misbehave because God detests the proud.

You once said you will buy machines, work for yourself and be an employer oflabour, have you fulfilled this yet?
Not really, plans change, and I am not in that field any more as I am studying something else now but if God permits, then it will be done.

image

Let’s talk about your love life. After you won the money, you said you had lots of toasters
Hahahaha it gave me headache. They all came because of the money you know…many of them got my contact from my sisters, they would call me to make empty promises, one of them even went as far as saying he’ll build a big house for my mum and also take me abroad, imagine!
They went as far as calling to ask my parents if I am married…but it’s all good now, since I relocated here, everything has died down.

I am now in a relationship and I will get married in due season.

image

Would you return to Nigeria after your studies or settle fully in Malaysia
I will only visit. I am working on being an international business woman, but don’t ask me what I intend supplying, lol.

So have you exhausted all the N 64 million?
Haba, no not really, I still have some left

Any advise to the Nigerian youths:
Youths should be patient and wait for their time, God’s time is the best, thank you!

Comedian Hannibal Burruss calls Bill Cosby a rapist...many times!

I love Bill Cosby and I don't like it when people disrespect him. And that was exactly what comedian Hannibal Burruss did during his stand up comedy routine in Philadelphia some days ago. The Eric Andre Show co-host, refered to Bill Cosby as a rapist. What he told the crowd below.
"Bill Cosby has the f–ing smuggest old black man public persona that I hate. ‘Pull your pants up, black people. I was on TV in the '80s. I can talk down to you because I had a successful sitcom.’
"Yeah, but you raped women, Bill Cosby. So, it brings you down a couple notches….I don't curse on stage. But yeah, you're a rapist.”
“I want to just at least make it weird for you to watch ‘Cosby Show' reruns. If you don't know about it, trust me. When you leave here, Google ‘Bill Cosby rape.’ That shit has more results than Hannibal Buress.”
Not nice Hannibal. Of course he's gotten a lot of backlash for the comments but he's yet to apologize.

Give Life A Handis a global digital campaign aimed at raising awareness of the importance of hand hygiene in the prevention of needless deaths of children under the age of five from preventable illnesses such as diarrhea and acute respiratory infections, often caused by poor hygiene.

Speaking at a media parley, the General Manager, West Africa, Reckitt Benckiser, Mr. Rahul Murgai, said “as Reckitt Benckiser, makers of Dettol, our global vision is to have a world where people are healthier and live better. In achieving this, we will continue to make a difference by giving people innovative solutions for healthier lives and happier homes.”

"Keeping in line with the spirit of our vision and heritage in Nigeria, we initiated our MOMentum campaign in 2014;a pledge to save 10 million lives helping Nigeria reach its Millennium Development Goals in terms of reducing infant mortality rate. As the next step to our commitment to improving the awareness of best hygiene practices in Nigeria, we are delighted to launch today our new Give Life A Hand campaign in Nigeria”, he added.

While shedding light on Dettol’s involvement in the Global Handwashing Day Initiative, Marketing Director, West Africa, Reckitt Benckiser, Mr. Oguzhan Silivrili, said the campaign has been carefully conceptualised to amplify the key message of this year’s Global Handwashing Day, with the theme‘Choose handwashing, choose health’.

‘‘According to a consumer study, regular handwashing is only limited with 4% in Nigeria.  Regular handwashing is the first line of defence from preventable diseases like Diarrhea, to the latest menace of Ebola Virus Disease. If we want to protect our children from getting sick, the first thing to do is to educate them about washing their hands properly.”

“Promoted on a wide enough scale, handwashing with soap can be thought of as a ‘do-it-yourself’ vaccine because it is easy, effective, and affordable.Ingraining the habit of handwashing could save more lives than any single vaccine or medical intervention. A vast change tilting towards handwashing behaviour is therefore critical to meeting the Millennium Development Goal of reducing two-third of deaths among children under the age of five by 2015”, Silivrili added.

Silivrili continued that Give Life A Hand campaign will be specifically leveraged through the social media platforms to intensify the education of many moreNigerian children on healthy hand washing habits via the Hashtag #handfie.

In the same vein, Dettol Marketing Manager, West Africa, Reckitt Benckiser, Ahmed Wahap Shah, said Dettol has been already running mass consumer education programmes to educate the moms and their kids about the handwashing habits. These include the New Mom Programme where five million mums have been reached since 2006 by teaching them good hygiene habits for themselves and their new born babies.

Through the Health on Wheels Programme, he revealed that another 150,000 families have been reached via the Mobile Clinic activation while almost a million children have been reached this year across schools in Nigeria via the School Hand Hygiene Programme. ‘‘For every #handfie shared via social media platforms, Dettol pledges to educate a child in Nigeria on healthy handwashing habits. The more #handfie shared, the more kids will be educated.
