Though the 2014 edition of Best of Nollywood (BON) may have
come and gone with many Nollywood stars going home with various awards,
but the unfolding events from the ceremony seem not to be forgotten very
soon.
There was an allegation that Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State insulted Nollywood practitioners during his speech at the awards, which some were not happy about. He had said some of those in the industry were products of circumstances.
It was also alleged that Nollywood actor cum producer, Elvis Chuks had informed a popular blogger about the viral, but when Nigeriafilms.com contacted Elvis on the matter, he denied ever telling the blogger such things.
He affirmed that the Governor had made the alleged insult on Nollywood, but insisted that he could not have told the blogger, who was not at the event, about the incident, noting that other people at the same occasion could have informed the said blogger about it.
Elvis said he stands by his words that Governor Amaechi insulted Nollywood.
Meanwhile, organizers of the awards, in a statement, have said the Governor never insulted Nollywood as being widely speculated.
Also, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) is yet to release a statement on the issue. It would be recalled that on the day of the event in Port Harcourt, Rivers, the AGN had its national election, which returned Ibinabo Fiberesima as president for a second term.
